Using different variations of a game helps keep your league players interested in participating. It also can "level the playing field" and gives everyone a chance to win, no matter what there skill level is.
If you would like to submit a game variation, please fill out our comments form.
The variation will be added and you will be credited for the addition.

Pool Variations Contributed by worldsallclass
We play a couple of different things other then what is listed below.
We play a 4-bar. All shots are 4 power bars no more no less.
A Shortbus tour. It is when u have to combo or bank every shot.
Around the world. After the break You make your balls in the pockets around the table starting with the upper left pocket and work your way around.
If u miss a pocket you lose.
Sides only, upper pockets only, lower pockets only. These variations are self explainatory.
Lottso Reverse Numbers Contributed by awsmgrlpl
You would tell the players to try to get the highest numbers at the end of the scoring ,
The number 5, I think it is the highest you can get at the end of your score,
4 or 5 at the end of your score is the best, at the end of the round, reverse your score to determine the winner.
An Example would be, say if you and I was paired,
and your score was 3455,
and mine was 3300 you would get 5543 and I would get 0033 which means you win that round?
Find The Host Contributed by countyboy1197
I did a find the host tour one time and had a great turn out now being requested for me to do it again.
Start in one game then leave the game before it is done, I go to another game but most time do not stay there but go to another and stay or a third and stay and the players have to find you.
I set this as 5 rds called Find the Host Tour.
One time I posted a host in one room another in another then I was in one and they had to figure out which host was doing which game next.
It is alot fun and the players love it alot.
Lottso game variation Contributed by sissy9258022
Today I did a tourney and I did a random seed lotto. I had a great turn out for it. I had a non league member pick a number out of how many jumpers we had, for example if there was 6 jumpers have someone in the room that is not a part of the league pick a number from 1 to 6 and the person that has that seed number gets a certain amount of bux.

Hunt Tourney Contributed by Jayda0575
This tourney was a huge success in my league and the players loved it. We are a multi-gaming league so we used different games each round. Set tourney as a 5 round true swiss. The host stationed in 1 game where everyone was to meet up. Each pair was given a game to go to, while they had 15 mins to complete their game using our reg. rules, they also had to use the players in the room to find the scavenger items that were given to them in the pairs. Example, some where asked to find 5 people from texas, others were asked to find 5 people wearing blue.. etc. upon completion they would return back to the Station room to report their win/loss and how many items on their list they found. At the end of the tourney there were 2 winners. The person winning the tourney and the person w the most scavenger items throughout the tourney. Winner of tourney received 5000 buxx and the Scavenger winner won their choice of a badge album or sack of gems. It took us about 3 hrs to complete the tourney.. but it was a blast.
Progressive Contributed by Hank
What I do is in my links or on the calendar for tours you state a number 77,46 ,50 (any number) that's the progressive number for that tour. If a player hits that in their score they win the progressive!! So lets say it 100 buxs a tour and its won on the third tour of day its 300 buxs(I also just do it one tour at a time, usually 200 buxs. Those matches better for me I do not have to find the other donates that way). Its really fun! I love it when there saying in the lobby, omg 76 78 lol!! 77 in gin seems to be a really good number for the host. LOL I have done the tour maybe 30 times and payed out maybe 3 times. They seem to enjoy the little side game!!! Thanks hope you try it!
Battle of the Loyal's Contributed by Jessica
Ever league has dedicated players. Why not have a tournament in there honor. Offer some incentives for the tournament to show your appreciation to them. After all dedicated players make great leagues.
Masquerade Tournament
Each player uses a different game name other than there regular one. They email, instant message or tell the host before the tourney starts what there regular ladder name is and the Masquerade name they will be using for the tournament. The host can let them play out the tournament anonymously then offer ladder bux prizes to the player that guesses the most " Who is Who " . Use your imagination on this one, It will definitely make your members chat to each other trying to figure out who a player is.
8 Ball
The Quickie Tournament
First person to sink The 8 ball wins the match.
Corners only
After the break, the players must sink their balls in the corner pockets only including the 8 ball. If a player knocks a ball into a side pocket by accident after they make the called shot, the play continues. But if they shoot a ball into the side they lose the game.
Sides only
After the break, the players must sink their balls in the side pockets only including the 8 ball. If a player knocks a ball into a corner pocket by accident after they make the called shot, the play continues. But if they shoot a ball into the corner they lose the game.
Last Pocket
Whatever pocket the player makes there last ball in they have to call the 8 ball shot there.
Full Power Shots
All Shots have to be made using full power. If a player taps a ball in, they lose.
Multi-Gaming Leagues
Follow the host
Is exactly what is says. Start at one game in the first round, after the round is over have the players follow you to another game room to play the second round. If there are more rounds you can add as many games as you would like.
Tips
To keep players active on your ladder, you have to keep them interested and have them not become bored. Here are some methods of doing that.
Start your Tournaments on time. Don't have players waiting around, if you have enough players to run your tournament start it.
If your tournaments take 15 to 20 minutes to play and you have the hosts to run them, set the tournaments up for every 30 minutes so there's always a game to play. If your just starting out and have limited hosts just run your tournaments during a certain time frame. As a example from 6 to 9 PM everyday. Once you gain a following, your members will know that your hosting during that time and look for you.
Run your league add once every 30 minutes. Do not do it while there's chat in the room, this is very annoying to non league players and will eventually lead to arguments. Stay away from arguments !!
Adding Trivia Questions
While a tournament is going on, and to keep your members interested, you can ask trivia questions. I have seen leagues have a lot of success with this and players kept coming back, not just for the tourney but to try to answer the trivia.
